[The scope of Quizzes]

We will do quizzes on a regular basis. Quizzes contain some

`representative' problems, and are an important part of the course.

In the exams you will likely see some problems which you have

seen in the quizzes and also some problems which are minor

modifications of the quiz problems. There are

• 1. "In-class" quizzes

(factored into your grade),

• 2. "Take-home" quizzes

(factored into your grade),

and

• 3. "Self-grade" quizzes

(NOT factored into your grade).

[Which quizzes will be collected and graded?]

Only "In-class" and "Take-home" quizzes will be collected, graded,

and returned.

[What do I do with "Self-grade" quizzes?]

"Self-grade" quizzes will be posted with solutions (not necessarily at

the same time), thus you

• 1. try it

(try not to peek at solutions),

• 2. download "solutions", and

• 3. "self-grade" using solutions.

You will not be asked to turn them in.

[Announcement for "In-class" quizzes?]

The timing of "In-class" quizzes will be USUALLY announced ahead

of time, but Kachi cannot guarantee you if there will be no "pop"

in-class quiz. So, always be alert and make sure to study the materials

covered in class without delay.

In sum, an important part of studying for an exam is to review ALL the

quizzes which Kachi indicated to be within the coverage of the exam.
