administered to some member(s) of the class at a time
different from the pre-announced time and day for the same
exam for the class. An exam administered at KU Disability
Resources with the same starting time as the regularly
scheduled exam is NOT considered as a "make-up" exam.
Kachi will not give you make-up exams under any
circumstance. There is one exception to this policy (this
conforms to the University Policies):
the make-up:
on the same day, including the one for this class,
during the University-designated Final Exam
Period,
(In the above, a `flextime' exam is an exam which
students get to choose when to take.)
in short, Kachi cannot accommodate you make-up exams. Period.
Kachi's in-class exams due to an emergency, or for whatever reason,
it's just tough luck. Sorry.
Even though it is generally true that missing one in-class exam
causes an
adverse effect on your grade, Kachi's grading scheme is designed
in such
a way it is still possible to recover from the loss:
(1) Keep in mind each exam has a "take-home" portion. Missing
the "in-class" portion of an exam does not mean your
score for
that exam is 0. Typically, the point-allocation for
each exam is
(2) There are multiple ways to earn extra credits, namely,
Kachi strongly recommends that you do all the extra credit assignments
and also any extra credit portion of quizzes/exams whenever included.
These make it theoretically possible to earn the letter grade of
A even
with a miss of one "in-class" exam. However, please also be aware
that
any extra credit you have incured will be "pro-rated" by your
attendance rate. Thus Kachi also strongly recommends to regularly
attend
classes.
